Guadalajara will soon become the media technology capital in Mexico. The capital of the state of Jalisco, Guadalajara has won the right to host the Ciudad Creativa Digital program, which is a technological development project sponsored by the federal government. This $10 Billion investment will enable industry, government, and universities to combine their efforts to form an arena to attract various technology companies in the country.
Ciudad Creativa Digital was the idea of ProMexico, a public body that works to promote foreign investment in the country, and aims to join together technology companies that develop video games, movies, multimedia and mobile applications. Eleven Mexican cities, including Monterrey, Tijuana, and Puebla, competed to host this huge project, but it went to Guadalajara, which is already considered the Silicone Valley of Mexico.

According to Mayor Aristoteles Sandoval Diaz of Guadalajara, the ideal place for the project is the Parque Morelos. The City Council currently owns properties that are adjacent to the park, which was formerly allotted to the Pan American Village, a government project that never came to fruition. Once the Ciudad Creativa Digital is constructed, the empty lots in the area will no longer go to waste. At least 200 hectares of land are needed to develop the huge industrial park.
